BUKOLA ESIN; WHO IS SHE ?

BUKOLA ESIN; WHO IS SHE?

Bosbos of mybosbos.blogspot.com had a chat with new gospel music act, Bukola Esin. Touching her interesting private life as well as her musical career.

Bukola is a dynamic, unassuming,  warm passionate woman who is set to rearrange the already overcrowded gospel music market.  Please read on...

Bosbos: Welcome Bukola to mybosbos blogspot.

Bukola: Thanks, its my pleasure.

Bosbos: What is your full name?

Bukola: Bukola Esin

Bosbos: Give us a short insight into your background.

Bukola: I am a Nigerian and Yoruba. Grew up in Lagos, schooled in the North and Western part of the country
Worked in Nigeria Media for several years before relocating to Australia.

Bosbos: Good! So what drew you to music?

Bukola: I am a music lover right from about the age of 5. At least that’s the age I can recall myself discovering my love for music. Got into Primary school and was shortlisted for the junior school choir. Got lead roles too.So while I was young I really wanted to be on television with my music. I longed to share with the world. But unfortunately my parents didn’t know a lot about music marketing.

Bosbos:  you really worked hard to achieve your dreams. How old are you?

Bukola: 43, in few weeks. I have learnt something in my life’s journey that it is never too late to achieve what you want.

Bosbos: ( cuts in) Wow happy birthday in advance Bukola.

Bukola: thanks. I kept singing while in the house or anywhere and neighbours will tell my parents to push me further in music. It is exciting as I am giving myself a beautiful birthday gift this year, with the launch of my first album.

Bosbos: I can see you started early in  performing arts. Have you ever had stage frights?

Bukola: Oh yes hahahaha (laughing she goes on further to explain ). Especially as a young artist, I have had opportunities to perform dramas and music on stage to a large crowd. The size and caliber of the people in the crowd is enough to scare anyone.  I just mutter a word of prayer and ask God to take control and that’s it. You won’t believe it’s the same person anymore.

Bosbos: So do you still apply this formula now or you don't have frights anymore?

Bukola: I mostly don’t have frights anymore but it doesn’t stop me from putting God first into my performances.

Bosbos: Nice,  prayer first in everything.
Who inspires you in life?

Bukola: My parents...

Bosbos: who inspires you in music?

Bukola: I get my inspiration from God . I can’t pinpoint really any other. If anyone told me I would be writing songs that would be officially published a year and half ago, I would argue. But you know what? When God says it’s time? IT IS TIME

Bosbos: Good philosophy.

Bukola: Thanks.

Bosbos: You mentioned earlier you are about to launch your first album can we know more about it and what genre of music are you into?

Bukola: Yes please. It is titled FREE.  The album has three new songs in addition to my already published EPS. I used the title FREE, which is for one of the new songs because as the lyrics explains, ‘ I remember when the looser (devil) said, I am nothing but a splash of mistakes. Reminding me of all bad things I have done, but with me deciding on what camp to choose - Good or bad, I can confidently say I am free from guilt, from unworthiness and accusations. I am into gospel music. Within the album, we are able to praise , worship and remind ourselves of our purpose in life.

Bosbos: ( surprised ) You already have singles published so you are not a novice in the industry then.

Bukola: I am no longer a novice.  I have learnt so much within the last year and half and still I am no longer a novice.  I have learnt so much within the last year and half and still learning..

Bosbos: Great but you reside in Australia now, how do you plan to market your album back home in Nigeria?

Bukola: By using already existing marketing opportunities available in Nigeria and looking for more.

Bosbos: You have contacts already yes?

Bukola: As I said I worked in the Nigeria Media for years, right from NTA Ibadan. I am out of the country physically, not by mind.

Bosbos: Any particular reason you chose  gospel music ?

Bukola: I actually got a call within me. I used to sing every other genre until my mind wasn’t so much at rest. The day I decided to sing gospel, things changed for me. I got messages from across the world that gave me goosebumps and made me fear the power of God. Testimonies that strangers gave me regarding how the songs have touch their hearts and situations. Seriously, it is scary sometimes. I have witnessed people fall down in tears.

Bosbos: ( In awe now) The anointing is really flowing in you. How often do you write songs  and do you play any musical instruments?

Bukola:  I have tried my sister! I have tried so hard because I keep getting musicians say its good to play an instrument. I had two guitar teachers at different times but just couldn’t get the time and inspiration for it. Same with piano. I do tatata ( very very small and monotonous rhythm) on the konga.

I write when I am led. I was once in the middle of my prayers and I got the inspiration for REIGN. That song has touched lifes! Even me.

Bosbos: Free and Reign, are there any hidden meaning in your songs ?

Bukola:You know as humans, we are not all without life’s struggles. That was my moment of struggle which by the grace of God alone I was able to boldly face the mountain. Not by power o

Bosbos: Do you keep tabs on Nigerian gospel artist and who among the is your favorite?

Bukola: Yes, some. I like Tope Alabi and Chioma Jesus.

Bosbos: I love them too.

The gospel music sector is overcrowded how do you intend to set your self apart?

Bukola: I used to think my listening audience was only Nigerians until I got to Australia. Until I had to use a translator to get messages from different countries like Spain, Ukraine etc. I tell you it doesn’t matter at all.
So , I know different people have different callings.  You will always have your niche.

Bosbos:Do you plan to do a collaboration with any artist in Nigeria?

Part 2 coming up shortly...

Maid From The Pit of Hell

It is with deep gratitude to God and heart-felt thanksgiving, that I type this message. For saving my son Prince Osinachi from death and for saving my family from sorrow, be thou exalted O Lord...if i had one million tongues, it still won't be enough to praise you...Men may not understand how far you've brought us, showing us excess love on a daily, you have been so merciful even when we do not deserve it And then it happened that i employed a witch from the pit of hell as a maid Her name is Agatha Joshua and she hails from Gboko, Benue state, Tiv by tribe. This is a girl i took as my own first daughter, put her in a standard school, bought her everything she wanted, not just needed.I also took her for HIV and hepatis test immediately she came and then gave her the three doses of hepatitis vaccine when she tested negative. I equally do not flog her at all,i only knock her or draw her ear to correct her whenever she makes mistakes, and i don't do this often becaus
