THE MOST POLITICALLY CONFUSED STATE IN NIGERIA.
In as much as our beauty lies in our diversity, our fall lies in our selfishness.
Gbenga Daniel
The tale of who will be the king could be hindered by stakeholder's selfishness, not knowing that they are killing their followers.
The recent happenings in the politics of Ogun state Nigeria, made me conclude that the innocent residents and indigenes of the state are the most politically confused people as we speak, with the confusion stemming from chaos caused by the Ogun State politicians.
Oladipupo Adebutu
The map of Ogun state
Ogun state, which has been zoned in to 3 tiers namely Ijebu, Remo, Egba (Abeokuta) and Yewa has presented Governorship Aspirants from all the regions.
The incumbent governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun who, won his seat to the Senate on the platform of APC is trying to retain power, I'll say he is trying to guard his territory from the party's stakeholders that are considered to be powerful.By bringing his most trusted and loyal friend Hon. Kunle Akinlade through another political party APM.
But the ruling party APC where the Governor won his ticket to the senate has another candidate from Ijebu/Remo, Mr Dapo Abiodun with the total backing of the Vice President Prof Yemi Osibajo, who happens to be his kinsman (Osibajo from ikenne, Dapo Abiodun from Iperu).
Here is the main source of confusion...
The opposition party PDP has its own twist too .
The PDP at the national level recognizes it's consensus candidate Hon. Ladipupo Adebutu AKA "LADO" as the Governorship flag bearer was countered in court by The famous Senator Buruji Kashamu which has left us with the question: who is the "Original" candidate?
In another development, Atiku campaign DG in person of former Governor of Ogun state OTUNBA GBENGA DANIEL has come out to endorse Dapo Abiodun of APC.
The PDP recognizes LADO while the law recognizes Kashamu. Meanwhile we are yet to deal with the likes of Dimeji Bankole and GNI .
I was sitted gently in my sitting room this afternoon when I tuned my radio to a popular radio station here in Lagos, then first I heard the APC jingle for Dapo Abiodun followed by APM jingle for Kunle Akinlade, then I heard the one for PDP's LADO, in anticipation I was expecting the program that aired those interludes to proceed I heard another one from PDP's Kashamu.... Oh! My! God!, was what escaped from my mouths what a situation!
This brouhaha is really dealing with our psyche and it's telling on the masses. How on earth did we get to this point in a state that produces most of Nigeria's historical list of intellectuals ?
It is clear that the minds of people in the state are divided and confused already
This leaves me in the hanging as to what the future holds for the common man in the state.
Till Saturday...... Fingers are now crossed.
